Autumn Foliage in Kołobrzeg (21-24. Oct.)

I love autumn. This is my favorite season. It's a 2nd Spring without mosquitoes or other blood-sucking insects trying to drain my blood out of me. It's when I can start wearing sweaters and/or jackets again. The craziness of the summer is left behind, and the bitter cold of the winter is yet to come . . . like a colorful "eye of the storm".

Let's go and explore the surroundings now, shall we?

Behold, the School by the Sea (and church)

More info for all curious.

Cat at one of my students' house (married couple with kids).

I like this cat. Oh, the couple's youngest son gave me that pear. It was good too.

Oh, aren't we cheeky.

Autumn gives a kind of charm to rusty sculptures, doesn't it?

Let's go directly to the platform.

Who thought sewage pipes could be beautiful?

Welcome indeed

That's actually the main post office, believe it or not.

Memorial across from the post office.

I look forward to the day I'll be able to read & understand that.

National emblem: eagle

We're back on park 18 Marca

Doesn't that tree look like something from Dr. Suess?

Oh, what's this? I must go and check it out . . .

As of now, all I can say is that "Listopada" = "November"

Any questions?

Can't ignore Pope John Paul II in this country.

These last pictures are from park Generała Jana Henryka Dąbrowskiego.
This is unofficially my favorite park (so far).

Finally, from park Imienia 3 Dywizji Piechoty
So here's an idea of the beautiful autumn I see in Kołobrzeg. Of course, the pictures don't really do justice to the places.

Wondering about the names of the places? Go to Google; that's how I got them.

Ride from Kołobrzeg to Koszalin (7.Oct.)

Oh my. Looking at the date these pictures were taken, and then looking at the day I'm publishing this post . . . oh boy, I've got a lot of catching up to do . . .

It was a lovely day, and I decided to document my weekly trips to Koszalin from Kołobrzeg.

Kołobrzeg's train station

Kołobrzeg's bus terminal (right beside the train station)

Do you know what it says? I don't.

Bus to Koszalin schedule (1 of several bus companies)

Koszalin train station. The bus terminal is right beside it too.

Buses coming. So you can see the frequency of buses to the train station/bus terminal.

This bus schedule says a lot.

The above picture of the bus schedule from Zakopane to Kołobrzeg says a lot. Kołobrzeg is one of the northern-most cities in north-central Poland. Zakopane is one of the southern-most cities in south-central Poland. Basically, this bus goes through the middle of the entire country of Poland (not really in a direct line, but close enough). It also takes the bus over 14 hours to cross the length of the country. As this bus schedule shows, Poland is HUGE (a lot bigger than most people think).

Seriously, how cool is this?

As the last few pictures suggest, this is at night. I'm in Koszalin all day and get back to my apartment after dark--especially now that the sun has been setting around 18:00 this past week.

Next, are a few pictures of autumn here in Kołobrzeg--and also in Koszalin.
